Batman Begins (2005)

Batman Begins is the biggest disappointment since Phantom Menace. I'm crushed. I've vented enough on this, just thought I'd educate the masses. Batman is wiggy wack, kids don't do crack.
Kraftwerk: Pitchfork Live Review

An amazing concert in support of their new live album. We saw it at the Hammerstein last month and I can't tell you I've been to a more entertaining show.

FOXNews.com - U.S. & World - Autopsy: Schiavo Was Not Abused

An autopsy of Fox New's coverage of this new piece of information. Note that the core finding, that there was no chance of rehabilitation, is not included in the header, near the top, nor is it dealt with in the body as 'conclusive' evidence that those who argued otherwise are batshit crazy. Instead it focuses on the abuse allegations that were clearly meant as attacks on the husband, to the negation of the ACTUAL meat of the debate. Mmmm, a steaming pile of slander.

Fox News, Pulling the fleece over the eyes, just a little bit more.
CNN.com - Schiavo autopsy finds no sign of trauma - Jun 15, 2005

So, what, the many expert testimonies given to 8 different courts, all of which judged that she was too far gone to benefit from therapy, were simply and undeniably correct after all? The mind reels.

Human Pets! Be the first to collect all 8! If you're not already decided on this issue, consider this. What is quality of life to you?

BBC NEWS | Americas | Rumsfeld points to image problem

I imagine he has a hard job. Govt. Employee of the month goes to Rumsfeld who slipped a mickey into the "Suggestions" box on the oval office desk today. I imagine it is difficult to communicate our public policy to someone at the business end of an assault rifle. When the dogma of your grand tour is 'fighting an intelligence war using a large scale land assault', you can't be surprised when that's seen as anything other than unimaginative solution.
INDUSTORIOUS CLOCK ||| MONO*CRAFTS

It's nice to know there's someone out there, working around the clock... to be a clock. Basically.

My Neighbor Totoro (Tonari no Totoro) (1988)

Havn't finished it yet, but if you like children's cinema, I highly recommend this. It's imaginative and occasionally thrilling. Always cute. ^_^

Wired News: 007 Spacesuit Found in Storage

...Found with the suit was an unused version of the Moonraker script, wherein Roger Moore fights Sean Connery in the epic final scene. The spoils of the fight? A jar of hair oil and a merkin.

Really though, I wonder how these things get lost. I assumed that the government only loses things like stinger missles, or powerful religious artifacts. I learn these things in movies.
In the News: Ultra-Lifelike Robot Debuts in Japan

One false step and we're rolling down the cliffs into Uncanny Valley. Check that guy's expressions in the pictures, I'm not unconvinced that he's the robot.
Vitalic | OK Cowboy Pitchfork Review | iTunes

I have the found-sound of summer 2005. Daft Punk sucks now, and the Avalanches are nowhere to be seen. I was turned on to Vitalic thanks to a snotty remark in Pitchfork that suggested my summer would be best rocking out to this than any other remix effort to make me like 'Robot Rock' (or wtf).

Fallacies

For when you know they're wrong, but you just don't know why. I love syntax of a good argument, and there's something to be said for 'being right'.
Amazon.com: Music: Anniemal

One of my newer musical obsessions. Much digital ink has been spilt praising this album. She's not the new Mads or Kylie, but a witchy twitchy euro-dance chanteuse. I might have just made that up. 'Heartbeat' is a favorite. See also 'Me Plus One'. See also: Norweigan.
Slashdot | Nanotech Protests Begin

I just think people should know as much as possible about an issue before protesting it. I'm all about social activism, I think that awareness must be raised on a number of social issues that loom in the not too distant future, but am I supposed to honestly believe these DAMN DIRTY HIPPIES *sputters* DIRTY! *twitches*... these people know the ramifications of an almost purely theoretical science? I say 'eew' to them, and 'fie' to empty words.
Quick Online Tips: Free Essential Tools for Blogger

This is here mostly as a reminder to myself. Looks like there's some pretty cool toys. Thanks to Joe for filling me in on 'trackbacks'. I got where I am today because of hobbyist philanderings on the net. I think it's just as well that I keep at it.
Los Angeles Times: Dean's Zeal Is Looking Like Zealotry, Some Fear

The memories of our Beltway Blowhards are shortening ever still. Like waters receeding from the shore leaving behind only confusion and apathy. Seriously, is there anyone, anywhere that thinks Dean's comments were erroneous? The bible belt put Bush in office. Are we really supposed to forget this fact and be pissy about Dean's (admitted) generalization?
It appears we are one step closer to losing our entire movie, music and literature collections to the chewing fetish of our felonious feline.

TRANSIT SAFETY: DON’T BECOME A VICTIM! Keeping yourself and your belongings safe within the New York Transit System

LET’S STOP iPOD THEFT

* STAY ALERT
* KEEP YOUR iPOD… OUT OF SIGHT
* DON’T STAY BY TRAIN DOORS WHEN USING ELECTRONIC DEVICES
* BE ALERT FOR PICKPOCKETS WHEN LISTENING TO MUSIC
* CHANGE THE EARPIECE COLOR WHEN RIDING IN PUBLIC

I have no experience with highwayman, thugs, or ruffians of any sort. That said someone was victimized on my block, two doors away in broad daylight. Their ipod and other belongings were snatched. I just hope the scallywags out there who are targeting ipods don't read these guidelines. I have gone 'back to black', and will no longer sport the trademark iPod brand headphones.
:: Around the market

Katherine Slingluff | Photographer | New Orleans, LA

This week's photographs seem to theme very well with the opening of the new Nichol Farhi boutique '202' that opened here in the market last week. Photographs of living spaces, very 'lived in'. The spaces appear abandoned, some trashed. On the market's factory walls it almost looks like portals into similarly worn and streaked edifices.
